Kingsgate Choice keen to conquer Catterick in first attempt
The title of the Ascot Festival of Food And Wine Handicap, that Kingsgate Choice bagged on September 8 despite being an underdog, had great worth. Cherishing the pleasant memories of that remarkable victory, the Ed de Giles trained bay gelding will run and
win the high-voltage race of the Totescoop6 Catterick Dash (Handicap Stakes) at Catterick on Saturday.
Having made marks at various big venues, the Irish horse is now keen to conquer this racecourse as well. This is going to be the five-year-old veteran gelding’s first Catterick trip after his 22 starts and 5 triumphs.
Since his last outing of September 15, the T. Gould owned runner has been in school to improvise his stamina. Hopefully, he will be able to make a strong comeback today.
This year, the talented son of Choisir out of Kenema has accomplished two classy victories along two runner-up spots.
On May 11, he elegantly won the Betfred "Bonus King Bingo" Handicap at Lingfield. He moved on to finish second in the very next race named as Book A Bistro Package In Frankie's Handicap.
The Michael Staunton bred horse once again sealed the runner-up position in the 70th Birthday Keith Bownes Handicap, held at Doncaster on August 18.
Then, Kingsgate Choice grabbed the marvellous victory of September 8. Interesting to note is the fact that the maverick sprinter has always performed well unexpectedly. His career is marked with upsets.
These facts depict that the gelding possesses a lot of talent and firepower that will help him make a big impact in today’s event.
However, he will have to be wary of Capone who can give him a tough time. The Garry Moss trained bay gelding registered a fabulous triumph on February 3 when he beat the hot favourite candidate, Alben Star, to lift the ace title of the Follow Us On Twitter
@bluesq Conditions Stakes at Wolverhampton.
As a whole, the experienced horse has 7 wins to his name. In compare with Kingsgate Choice, he has run more races over soft surfaces.
Thus, a rip-roaring clash is imminent between the two giant geldings, but Kingsgate Choice has definitely higher chances to thrive. Good luck to him.
