Kingsmill Championship: Danielle Kang takes the second position in second round
American Danielle Kang fired an impressive 64 in the second round of Kingsmill Championship to take the second position on the leaderboard.
Kang got off to solid start at the Kingsmill Championship, being staged at Williamsburg, Virginia, keeping her nearest rivals in trouble right from the start of the four-round match.
The American star posted a 67 in the opening round, ramping up pressure on other contenders. However, she managed to improve her position in the second round by shooting a stunning 64.
The second day saw favourable weather conditions, which players fully capitalise on as they posted good scores.
The first round was marred by bad light, which forced the match officials to suspend the round for players who could not tee off on Thursday.
However, the players, who teed off on Thursday, did not let rough weather conditions get in their way and managed to card impressive scores early in the day.
South Korean Jiyai Shin has been almost perfect in the first two rounds as she posted a massive 62 in the first round to grab an early lead.
American contenders began their pursuit of the coveted title in style, as they put Asian players in trouble in the first round. Paula Creamer, who is regarded as one of the most talented players in the United States, got off to a flying start as she registered a 65 in the opening round.
Commentators said that American players will have to put their best feet forward as the spectators are keeping a close eye on the national stars.
“Today I just started off the day thinking just take it shot by shot; that's what I said to my mom this morning,” Kang said while speaking to the LPGA at the end of the round.
“I've been approaching shots differently this whole week as me and my coach talked about before I came out here, and I just am trying to see what works, and my brother taught me how to putt so it's been working pretty well as far as I can see”.
Kang went on to say that she has been a bit concerned about her putting, but thankfully, she has managed to improve her shots.
“After the Canadian Women's Open, I thought kind of obviously I'm approaching shots a little differently than I used to when I was an amateur,” Kang added.
