Kirby Ultimate G carpet shampooer not producing...

I have a Kirby Ultimate G Carpet Shampooer and I've tried cleaning out the sponge thingy that goes into the intake and its still not producing foam. I go through about 3 tanks of solution on a 10x12 room and my carpet is saturated instead of barely wet with foam. HELP!
