Kirby leaves Gloucestershire
Fast bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gloucestershire-c785 as he seeks a move to the first division of the county championship.
Kirby will shortly be 33-years-old and says he wants to test himself at the highest level of the English game before he retires. He will become a free agent at the end of this season as his contract with Gloucestershire will cease.
He said: "This decision has not been an easy one, especially given the fact that I had been awarded a benefit next year. But I am very ambitious and still have the desire and hunger to win things and to achieve my dream of one day playing for England."
There will already be a few clubs sniffing around Kirby because he has a high number of skills that would make him an important player in a good side. However, he may have waited a little too long to secure a move that would open up doors to England.
Kirby's skills
Kirby has managed to keep himself fit throughout his entire career. He loves the game and this has been shown during his time at Gloucestershire. He is the sort of bowler that will run in all day long and not look as though he is getting tired at any point.
He's managed to retain the pace that he has always had as a fast bowler. This is because he has managed to stay fit but it is a side to his game that will appeal to any division one side that will sign him to play four day cricket.
He has a tremendous amount of experience and knows how to bowl in a variety of different conditions. He's taken 428 wickets during his first class career and you don't get to a number this high if you are a bad player.
He added: "I definitely have unfinished business and there are many things I still want to achieve in this game. I am really excited about this next challenge in my career wherever it may take me."
Betting advice
Kirby will add to the bowling attack of any county that he joins. He has the ability to bowl for long spells over a long period because of the good physical shape that he stays in. This will make him a great bet to be top wicket taker at the club he joins and in any competition.
