Dutch sailors, Kiri Thode and Sarah-Quita Offringa, grabbed their respective final race titles in men and women categories at the end of the final day of 2011 Bonaire PWA World Cup on Friday, June
17 at Loc Bay in Bonaire.
The sailors made a huge impact during the Professional Windsurfing Association (PWA) World Cup in Bonaire as they put their best efforts into the freestyle PWA racing.
The weather conditions at Loc Bay were favourable for the race as the breeze was puffing around 25 knots. The local favourite Kiri Thode defeated Taty Frans to reach to men’s final against Steven
Van Broeckhoven of Belgium. The 2011 Vietnam PWA Freestyle winner, Thode, nudged down the Belgian in two heats of the final race and grabbed the title with 2100 points.
While speaking to the local press after the race, Thode said, “I am ecstatic to have won on my home spot, it was an amazing event and the wind was perfect. A lot of the others competitors can do all
the moves here, I was really pushing myself to show everyone what I can do and I am extremely happy with my sailing. I am really excited for the next event in Aruba.”
In the women’s fleet, home favourite Sarah-Quita Offringa had a tremendous sail and finished on top with 2100 points at the end of the final day. She raced against Laure Treboux in the final which
