Kirk Edwards supports under-fire Darren Sammy - Cricket News Update
The young and sensational West Indian batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kirk-Anton-Edwards-c71510, has stepped forward to support the under fire Windies skipper Darren Sammy, by calling him a "fighting cricketer who gives his all".
The 27-year-old middle order Barbadian batsman said that the miffed Windies skipper needs support.
"Sammy is a fighter,” said Edwards while speaking to media reporters at the sidelines of the annual Barbados Cricket Association Christmas lunch. “He is a cricketer that everybody has a lot of negatives to say. He is always under pressure but I kind of admire the guy for the fact that he still goes out there and gives his all. It is tough for Sammy and I try to lend my support," he added.

The Caribbean cricketers won the two-match Test series against Bangladesh by 1-0 in October, but were beaten last month by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and his men, 2-0 in the three-Test series. The Test series loss was followed by a 1-4 crushing in the five-match ODI series against the same opposition.

Edwards said that critics must remember that the new team needs time to develop and it’s not just one man’s fault.
"...we are a fighting team and we are developing a relatively young team. To play the type of cricket we played, I was proud about that. It is all a learning curve. You don't just wake up and be the ultimate Test cricketer," the Barbadian asserted.
Edwards had his Test debut in July this year against India, and is a batting prospect for the Windies in the longest format of the game. So far he has played 6 Test matches and averages 54.09. His tally of 595 Test runs is laced with two centuries and three half centuries.
