Kirk Wernars guided Sussex 2nd XI to victory: Second Eleven Twenty20-Group D
Sussex 2nd XI clinched a six-run victory over Hampshire 2nd XI in a Group D match of the Second Eleven Twenty20, at The Rose Bowl, Southampton in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 on Monday, June 6th, 2011. The visitors batted well, scoring 178 runs
in their allotted 20 overs. The highlight of the innings was a magnificent performance by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kirk-Wernars-c71515, who remained unbeaten on 81 runs for his side. He ended up being the top scorer in the match. Hampshire 2nd XI did a terrific job and almost
managed to chase the target down but fell short by six runs in the end.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Will-Beer-c2792, who is the skipper of Sussex 2nd XI, decided to bat first after winning the toss. The conditions were very good for the batsmen, as there was no assistance for the bowlers in the pitch, which was hard and dry. The visitors took full
advantage of the conditions and posted a decent target for the opposition.

However, wicketkeeper batsman, Ben Brown, and middle-order player, Wernars rescued their team from trouble with an outstanding half-century partnership. They put together 83 runs for the fourth wicket partnership, guiding their side to a very strong position.
Brown was dismissed after adding 46 runs off 27 balls to the total. He smashed six fours and one towering six, scoring his runs in a very quick time. Wernars played until the end though, scoring 81 runs from 55 deliveries with the help of nine fours and
one thunderous six. NA Gondal also played a crucial knock of unbeaten 21 runs, guiding the team’s total to 178.

A quick fire 15 from eight deliveries by Balcombe went in vain, as the hosts ended up being on the losing end.
Gondal did a fantastic job with the ball for the visitors, picking up three wickets.
