Kirk Yeaman of Hull FC is all set to march in with Hulls to the Grand final, with the knowledge thatthe squad will be bidding farewell to their coach, Richard Agar as he will join Wakefield Trinity Wildcats next season.
Peter Gentle has replaced Agar, which was confirmed yesterday. This was done after a short-list was drawn by Hulls’ new rugby league director, Shaun McRae. Last week, Gentle’s inclusion on the short list was not confirmed but the news about him being one
of the top priorities was already rumoured.
When asked about his move to Hulls as their head coach, Gentle was really excited about brought in as Hulls’ mentor because he will get to test his skills in Super League.
Yeaman will quit his previous two roles of coaching at the National Rugby League (NRL), West Tigers and Australian outfit to take up the new opportunity at Hulls, on McRae’s recommendation.
Hulls finished off their Super League stint, last Friday with a defeat against the Warrington Wolves but there are still four more fixtures to come. The first of these fixtures is on Sunday at Leeds. This is the elimination play-off that will be played between
Hulls and the Rhino Leeds.
While speaking about their performance until the end of the current season, Yeaman added that he wishes to send off his departing coach, on a very proud note with a Grand Final finish. This will nonetheless serve as a perfect farewell gift to an outgoing
coach.
While speaking about his plans in regards to the Grand final, Yeaman stated, "It's business as usual. The new coach coming in is for next season. We still think we can pose a threat in the play-offs this year and hopefully send Richard off winning a Grand
Final. Rich has been here a long time - this is his seventh or eighth season - and to send him off with a Grand Final would be really fitting for him."
