Kirk Yeaman states that he will not underestimate Wales - Rugby League
Kirk Yeaman, who fills in for the centre’s spot in the English side, stated while talking to media reporters on Friday, October 28, that there is no way that England is underestimating the Welsh side, which is making its debut in the Gillette Four Nations
Series this Saturday.
While reflecting upon his reasons, the English centre said, “There's only one player, Elliott Kear, who I've heard of but you can't underestimate anybody. They're there for a reason and they're playing for their country. We're expecting a really tough battle.
They're definitely an improving country. Year on year they've got stronger and they deserve to be in the Four Nations. They've got a few old heads in there like Lee Briers who can guide them around the pitch."
Lee Brier of Wales has been identified as the key to cracking the English defence by Adrian Morley. Wales, with its recent bad patch in Super League, is currently considered the weakest of all the teams in contention for the Four Nations title, but this
may prove misleading. The sides, who are taking Wales as no threat at all, are forgetting that their Welsh quarters are studded with highly skilled veteran like Briers.
Meanwhile, hopes from Yeaman for the English side are also high. He is known for his try scoring sprees, which were also recently witnessed during the 32-18 win over the French side last week.
The 28-year-old has returned to international games after four years and is expected to perform even better in tomorrow’s match.
When he was asked about his return, he told reporters that he was happy with this move of his but at the same time it also felt a bit weird because he was off from the international game for so many years. Lately, he sat off-field for almost one and a half
month.
However, his long absence explained why the prop was feeling a bit out of place but luckily the feeling was not there to stay. He himself admitted that as soon as he took charge on field, the feeling was already gone.
