Kirsten Nitz and William Buese dominate swimming events – High School State Championships, Kentucky
Kirsten Nitz of WH and William Buese of STX dominated swimming events by winning gold medals of the 100yard butterfly in Girls and Boys category respectively on closing day of the Kentucky High School State Championships for Boys and Girls in Louisville on February 26.
Nitz, who clinched gold medal of the 50yard freestyle, continued her thrilling form in the tournament and added the title of 100yard butterfly to her medal tally. She clocked a wonderful time of 54.18 seconds for gold medal.
She was trailed by 12-year-old Emily Holt of DM, who remained almost 1.50 seconds behind her and tapped the finishing end with a timing of 55.75 seconds for second position.
The silver medallist was chased by Caitlyn Forman of NDA, who remained 0.39 seconds away from overpowering the effort of her former finisher and clocked a time of 56.14 seconds for bronze medal.
Moments later, Buese occupied gold medal of the equivalent event in Boys category. The 9-year-old Buese crushed hopes of his challengers by submitting a time of 50.95 seconds for silver medal.
He was trailed by Brian Habacivich of DM, who was only 0.15 seconds behind and emerged on the finishing blockade with the timing of 51.10 seconds for silver medal.
The third spot of the race was obtained by Hunter Pasek of CC, who settled on the victory stand for bronze medal by clocking a time of 51.24 seconds.
Afterwards, Sarah Love of DM snared gold medal of the Girls 100yard freestyle as she completed her race in a notable time of 51.18 seconds. She was chased by Mackenzie Margroum of NDA, who was 0.77 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and ended her race with an effort of 51.95 seconds.
Subsequently, Annie Davies of BEE transpired as the third fastest swimmer of the event as she reached the finishing wall with the timing of 52.18 seconds.
The arena enjoyed noteworthy efforts of all participants in their exclusive events while the medal winners were called upon the podium for their dazzling performance. Furthermore, the championship ended after the conclusion of all planned events in Boys and Girls corner.
