Kirsty Coventry snares Women’s 100m back-stroke crown: Day three – 2011 All African Games
Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe put up a stunning effort on day three of the 2011 All African Games at Zimpeto National Stadium, in Maputo, Mozambique, on Wednesday, September 7. The session of the meet conducted the Women’s 100m back-stroke final.
In the corresponding race, Zimbabwe's Kirsty Coventry took home the gold medal on the podium by posting a winning time of 1 minute and 00.86 seconds. The time of Kirsty Coventry was short of her previous best meet record of 1 minute and 01.28 seconds, set
back at the 2007 edition of the competition. After winning the gold medal, Coventry was excited and pleased with her individual swim in the respective meet.
In the meantime, Karin Prinsloo earned silver medal on the podium by posting an impressive time of 1 minute and 01.46 seconds. More importantly, Karin has already won three gold medals in the current edition of the meet.
On the other hand, Amel Melih of Algeria took home the bronze medal of the podium by posting a stunning time of 1 minute and 07.27 seconds. Rene D Warnes of South Africa earned fourth place honours in a time of 1 minute and 07.56 seconds, while Fella Benaceur
of Algeria rounded out the top five in a time of 1 minute and 08.06 seconds. Jessica Cossa of Mozambique was placed sixth in the respective meet after she touched the finishing blockade to end her swim in a time of 1 minute and 08.19 seconds.
In the corresponding race, Kirsten Lapham of Zimbabwe earned seventh place honours in a time of 1 minute and 09.48 seconds. Last, but not the least, Talisa Lanoe of Kenya was placed eighth in a time of 1 minute and 09.92 seconds. After the swim, Lanoe was
not really happy and pleased with her splash in the competition.
All the swimmers of the race took a huge round of applause from the crowd and judges, while the winners were awarded medals and accolades after the end of the day’s session in Mozambique.
