Scotland’s talented and aggressive shuttler Kirsty Gilmour proved her superiority on court as she played top quality badminton and reached into Women’s Singles final after showing exit to Estonia’s Laura Vana in semi-final showdown at Polish Open 2012 on
Saturday, September 1, in Poland.
The in-form Kirsty, who was placed at number three in main draw in Women’s Singles category at Polish Open, showed an incredible display of her spectacular skills and she easily registered a comprehensive win over her Estonian opponent.
The higher ranked Kirsty was at her best while playing in the semi-final battle as she remained in complete control by keeping her rival on back foot all the way to grab victory in straight games with a dominating margin in just 25 minutes.
In the meanwhile, the fifth seeded Laura was completely helpless against her Scottish opponent on court as she played quivering game throughout the match. She failed to stretch her winning run at the semi-final stage and crashed out without showing a considerable
performance.
The third seeded Scottish player showed her aggressive skills from the opening points of first set as she played fast and positive badminton and did not take any time in establishing a wonderful lead at the early stage.
The impressive Kirsty put her rival in all sorts of trouble by setting up a huge lead until the end of opening half.
After the break, Laura tried to play positive badminton but she failed to put up strong show against Kirsty who played remarkable badminton to end up the opening set with a killing 21-7 score on the board.
In the following set, Laura lifted up her level of play as she showed a little improvement in her speed and perfection.
On the other hand, Kirsty failed to take a huge lead this time until the end of opening half as her rival also played positive badminton this time.
However, the Scottish shuttler played dominating game after the break and remained successful in finishing off the set with a comfortable margin of 21-16.
Kirsty won this semi-final clash in straight sets by consuming just 25 minutes with an inspiring 21-7 and 21-16 score on the board.
