Kirsty Gilmour surpasses Neslihan Yigit in 2013 European Club Championships – Badminton news
Scotland’s talented female shuttler Kirsty Gilmour employed all of her brilliance in the elimination round of European Club Championships and trounced Neslihan Yigit on May 31, 2013.
This was a Women’s Singles tie of a match between Egospor and BC Chambly Oise badminton club. The 38-minute match was played in the local badminton arena of Beauvais, France. Both female contenders challenged each other in all both segments of showdown and
concluded this tussle with final result of 21-17 and 21-19.
The Scottish lady, who was playing for BC Chambly Oise, laid the foundation of her dominance in the first set and maintained an upper hand all the way to game point of second set. On the other hand, Neslihan Yigit failed to register her mark and lost this
match in a woeful manner.
In the opening game, Kristy Gilmour launched an intensive attack and pushed her rival on the back foot. She played with an aggressive approach and kept the opposing shuttler at lower end. At the half time, Kristy was in commanding position with a respectable
total of 11.
After the mid-game break, she lost focus for a short span of time and allowed the Turkish lady to narrow the gap on points table.
Neslihan did not squander this opportunity of counterattack and placed a decent figure in the third quarter of the set. However, the lack of good finishing skills proved the biggest hurdle in her way to success.
She surrendered after reading 17-21 score on the board. The following game was also played in similar manner as Neslihan showed spark in middle of the game but then few consecutive blunders jeopardised her stakes.
Meanwhile, the Scottish shuttler relished full benefits of her first set win and sealed a splendid straight-set victory. This time Kristy prevailed in the establishing rallies and gained a significant advantage on points table.
She made a few mistakes immediately after the one-minute break but then a few productive rallies reinstated her supremacy. She did not lose focus in the final moments and won 21-19.
With this victory, she fetched a valuable match point for her team BC Chambly Oise in the elimination round of European Club Championships.
