Both contenders challenged each other in all departments of game for 52 minutes. The spectators commended their splendid show of skills and remained intact until the final result of 21-16, 14-21 and 24-22.
The opening and segments of the showdown belonged to the Scottish player whereas the losing shuttler could rise on her toes only in the second set.
Kristy, who holds 38th spot in the World Ranking, proved herself superior technically and tactically. She ruled the court in the establishing rallies of first set and raised her chances
of success.
She did not lose focus at any stage of the game and finished first half of the set with a decent figure of 11. This psychological advantage helped her in the latter part of game. She remained couple of steps
ahead of her challenger and won this crucial game with an impressive score of 21-16.
However, it was not a smooth ride to victory for her as Stolzenbach Patty showed a strong character even after the first set loss. The Dutch campaigner showed her intentions immediately in the beginning and as
she played with an authoritative approach.
She bagged many valuable points without any interruption and laid foundation of her supremacy way before the mid-game break. At the half-time, Stolzenbach was far ahead of her competitor but then few back-to-back
mistakes weakened her grip.
Kristy capitalised her rival’s blunders and narrowed the gap on points table but her fluctuated performance was not enough to avoid a 14-21 defeat.
With this development, the decider became consequential and both contenders were looking to claim this final match point. They put all in their possession to oust the opponent but neither of them could tip the
scale in her favour.
The game kept swinging between them all the way to final moments and this nerve-racking contest ended when the Scottish lady registered a concluding figure of 24-22.
