Kitten has a little goo in eyes

I found a kitten yesterday, took her home, and she had a little bit of white goo in the corners of her eyes. I wiped them clean with a damp cotton ball, and she was fine, but then we went to bed and when she woke up she had it again, this along with a little bit of crusty on her nose. What do you think is wrong with her? It doesnt seem serious, she''s not dripping mucous or anything, but could she be sick? I dont know much about cats...Im taking her to the vet later today. What do you think?

  1. Cats get this all the time, like you said...it's just goo.

Clean it gently and don't worry about it.......it never really goes away, my cat still gets it now and then.

Kittens just seem to get more.

The crusty nose is simply the same as a snotty nosed kid gets.....remember, a kitten is a child cat.

So it gets a snotty nose.

She needs to go to the vet for shots and a general check up and maybe some worming tablets and flea and tick treatment since you don't know about her past......but that's all routine stuff for a kitten.

  2. It's just a kitten thing, most kittens do that and they will for a while. Your vet might have some advice on how to prevent it but the chances are that there's nothing truly wrong with her.

  3. The damp cotton ball is a good idea. Don't use anything else until you see the vet. Outdoor kitties are subject to many different ailments and need to get their vaccinations in order to become good house cats.

Thank you for what you are doing for that little girl. She will repay you with undying love for the rest of her life!

  4. It sounds like the beginning of an Upper rEspiratory infection. She needs to see a vet. Infections in kittens are serious business and will only get worse without vet treatment. Do not give the kitten any kind of medicine without a vet's approval. It will only get worse and more expensive to treat if you wait so go ahead and take her in. I just rescued some kittens with severe eye infections. Some had lost eyes and some had gone blind. Hope she does well.

  5. Don't worry, it's quite normal.

My kitten often has that, and the white goo is sleep, which we as humans often get and the crusty bit on her nose could be food that has dried.

I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.

  6. You should take her to the shelter you should'nt just take random cats of the streets they could have dieseases or rabies.

  7. It may have sick eye if it is still really young.  You dont want to handle it too much because that can make it worse.  All you have to do is just keep wiping it off with a warm damp paper towel and eventually it will get better as it gets older.  Just dont hold it too much.

  8. Your kitten will be fine. I have had several cats in my life. The "Goo" in their eyes in my opinion is the same as the crust we have in our eyes after sleeping. As for the crust on its nose it is probably nothing more then dried mucus. I promise your kitten will be fine, it happens to all cats.

  9. It may have allergies and you should take it to the vet to get checked out.

  10. well the white goo i think is because she is tired but the nose I'm not sure about

  11. use pink eye medicine thats what we use for our cats

  12. Kittens are a dime a dozen.

  13. doesnt sound too serious. But thats good you are taking her to the vet. Thats the best thing to do. Good luck with your kitten!!! :-)

  14. my old cat had the same thing and i took it to the vet turns out it was an upper respretory disease which is just a cat cold the vet will give you an antibiotic to give it.

  15. it's sleep.

like when we wake up we have crust in our eyes.

    that's what it is.
