Recently my cat had kittens...five of them. They will be 2 months old Sunday. The two black ones have small white flaky abrasions. Not all over.Just one spot. The other three are not affected by this. They don't seem to itch them, nor do they cry. The spots began to come up around the third week. The one in the picture only has the one there on her face, the other black one has one on his neck, and it is a little larger and mot so flaky. Could this be ringworm, or mange, I have no idea! None of the other kittens have it, nor the mother. These kittens have not been outside. Is there something I can do for them, a home remedy or something? I can't really take them to the vet...help?? (I have a picture, but don't know how to attach it....maybe I should be asking THAT question first! HOW TO ATTACH PICTURE IN YAHOO ANSWERS? LOL....Please help my kitten!!

  1. Okay, it looks like the fur is starting to bare. When my cat had RINGWORM, it did the same thing. Be sure to always wash ur hands when you handle them, they are contagious. Be sure to call the vet, to get some medications. Cute kittens by the way!

P.S. how do you download your own picture to the little box that usually shows ur avatar?? Please tell

  2. It definately could be ringworm - and ringworm is often not itchy. Usually, this dz is self-limiting however sometimes treatment with medications and topicals is necessary.

Also, check to make sure the kitties don't have fleas b/c the spots could be from scratching.

Cats can get mange and this is usually very itchy and very contagious - so probably all cats would be affected.

Ringworm also is a zoonotic dz (people can get it from animals) - so be wash your hands after handling the kittens.

I would schedule an appt. with the vet if you don't see any improvement in a week.
