I got the cutest kitten from the s.p.c.a the other day...

he is mal nutritioned and you basically could feel his back bones and rib cage...he has very stringy hair and it looks almost as if it was falling out in some places, he is about the size of both of your hands put together...3 months old...

i feed him a can of food a day...9 lives cat food...half a can at 9am and half a can at 6pm should i be feeding him more?

he also has an upper resperatory infection...he breathes really hard and when he sleeps sometimes he will wake himself up and caugh...i have no money right now to get him to a vet...i will in a couple weeks though...is there anything i can do to help him in the mean time?

they also fixed him and he tends to l**k himself a lot i try to stop him but im still afraid he will get an infection...any help with that too?

  1. you should feed him a can at 9am and one at 6pm if hes that skinny.

the rescue should have a free vet, and you should have made sure you had a vet before you adopted.

hes l*****g himself cuz thats how they clean themselves. dont stop him.

  2. You can get this special vitamin milk for kittens.

    They are cute hey :-)

You should call him Romper or Maximus.

Make sure he is in an aired place that is warm.

The spca should be able to help you out with some tips if you give them a friendly call.

You could give him something to occupy him. Like a piece of string tied to a fan that dangles on the floor. Or try to get him interested in exploring by building him a blanket cubby house.

You could get a dropper or one of those medicine droppers from a demizin washed out and feed him some milk from that.

    Yes maximus decimus auerillius :-)

  3. Yes kittens eat a lot and the eat all the time.  Many vets will set up a plan for you if you tell them what is going on.  You have to get the kitten to a vet now.  They should not have fixed him until he was 6 to 9 months of age.  Try to keep him from l*****g his incision it could get infected if the cat is already battling other aliments.

PS the best thing for the cat is that you love him and make him feel loved and cherished.

  4. We save a four-week old kitten, Batman, and his  brother Pooky who we found around our house that had been abandon by their mother.  Batman was malnourished and looked younger than his brother.  He was basically bald, had infected eyes that where glued shut by all the puss, and the mother must have pushed him away because his claws stuck out (couldn't retracted).  The vets office was close on the weekend but we got him in within a couple of days.  He wouldn't take the bottle like Pooky, but wanted canned.  We thought he was going to need to be put down but the vet help us save him.  Amazingly he didn't end up blind.  At first his fur grew in with a lot of gray but now it is black like it should be.  And if your kitten's claws stick out massage them further out exercising the muscles.  My mom did this with Batman and now his claws retract.  Well good luck!

  5. Cats go down hill really fast.  Call the vet, ask if you can bring him in, and pay in two weeks.

In the meantime, keep him indoors, (inside-only cats live longer, healthier lives) keep him warm, and I would offer him more food than just that.  Do not give him milk, that creates more congestion.

You can't keep him from l*****g the site of his neutering.  All animals do that.

Please call the vet, this poor baby needs professional attention.
