Question:

Kitten rescues - I have a question about the answers?

I've been reading the various questions from people who ask about what to do with abandoned kittens that they've found. I noticed something odd. People who give advice on how to take care of it are given thumbs down votes, and those who say only "take it to the vet" are given the thumbs up.

Why is that, do you suppose? Is this another area of contention or could it just be a popularity contest?

I'll add links to some of the questions I'm talking about in Additional Details.

  1. It would be so nice to have all the money I wanted to take kittens to the vet for every cold but I don't. I also don't turn away any stray because I am poor. I use common sense and hands on loving care. I budget and give away only spayed or neutered kittens. I am not rich but each kitten I find a home for is one more fight I win.

  2. Here is my thought - ideally they would already have taken the kittens to the vet.  The people posting their questions here probably aren't going to do that!  By offering some sort of advice, perhaps I can help the kittens.

I ignore all the thumbs down, anyway.  People will give you thumbs down when they don't agree (and often they truly have no clue what they are talking about), and I personally don't care ;o)

  3. That's the reason I don't often visit this section. Every answer given to any question asked is 'go to the vet'. I think with some situations common sense can be used. There are also a bunch of low cost clinics or vet schools you can go to to get the standard tests done to see if the kitty is diseased.

  4. It's probably because people agreed more with the taking them to the vet. It is really the best answer to get someone who knows about the animal rather than someone's idea of it. You are going to be able to figure out if the kittens have feline aids, and worms. Also, how to take care of them.
