Question:

Kitten sucking my ear?

i just got a 6 week old kitten exactly a week ago. We have gotten very close she is very affectionate, much different from my other two who i raised from 6 weeks as well. This kitten sucks on my ear. I know that it is probably because she was weaned early or is still weaning, but is this bad, should i try to keep her from doing this...it is so sweet and precious she will seek me out to do so...am i doing her any harm by letting her do this. Will this make her closer to me. I know that some of these questions sound kinda dumb...i have never dealt with this before. Also what are some things i can do to try to make her a social and sweet loving cat.

  1. Its sounds as if she's already sweet! It also sound like she see's you as one on her litter mates. Its a compliment.

She may have been taken from mom too soon, but she has you now and will do just fine. When I was a kid we had this kittie that did that to us. My mom thought it was gross ( we liked it) so she got a furry little stuffed animal and gave it to him. He latched on to it instead of us.

He sucked an that thing until he was an old kittie. He was a happy kittie to have his "friend"

  2. That's so cute. She sounds like a sweet kitty =)

  3. Its cute NOW while its a kitten- but think about when your kitten becomes a CAT, if you don't want the cat to behave a certain way when it is older you must ALWAYS discourage that behavior.

If your okay with a cat potentially always doing this then let it do it.

AND if you think your cat has been weaned to early consult a vet- you might need to bottle feed the cat. Does the kitten have any digestive problems? (ie diarrhea or vomiting) if yes consult your vet

  4. awww............what a baby!   I say let her do it.  It makes her feel safe and protected and she thinks of you as her mother.

  5. No hun, you're not harming the kitten. On the contrary, sucking does create a bond and it is a sign of comfort, so that tells you she sees you as a mother figure. Isn't it cute? Sucking makes her happy so let her enjoy. A lot of kittens do this and it is perfectly normal and cute.

  6. means that it was taken too early from its mom. no shes ok jut let her do this its fine.

  7. Honestly I wouldn't worry about it as long as the kitten is eating and drinking as she should be.

It sounds like she is already sweet and loving but to socialise her (with people I assume) just introduce her to people (you know) while she's still young so she knows that she's safe with people. And it's best to keep her inside always, indoor cats live much longer lives. ;)

    Good luck.

PS - your kitten sounds really, really cute.

  8. It's cause she's weaning.  Like a baby with a pacifier.  Don't let her do it, if you do she may continue to do it her whole life.  Expose her to lots of people and keep it positive, have company give her treats or toys to play with.  A lot of a cat's adult personality is inborn.

  9. This kitten was not fully weened, the kitten should either be taken back to her Mama for another 2 or 3 weeks or bottle fed. She thinks you are her Mom now.Well you are, But she still needs mother's milk. If you bottle feed her you will truly bond with her.You can buy the bottle's and kitten formula in a pet store.

  10. that because she thinks that u r her mommy kitten ever since u got her she looks up to u like that..

  11. she sucks your ear cuz you are her new mommy and to make her a sweet loveing cat just be sweet and loveing to her
