Kitten with diarrhea?

Question

My 5 month old kitten has diarrhea for 2 days now. He still has a huge appetite, purrs, plays etc, but is constantly in the litter box. I will take him to the Vet for sure, but am just curious as to what this may cause. I don't give my cats milk and they eat dry food most of the time...

Your kitten probably has dirrhea because of all the dry food you have been giving him, try to give him a balanced diet. For more details, contact your local vet.

Cats have very delicate digestive systemse. Have you ever fed your kitten cat grass? It can help the digestive system work better. Also it could be that you are feeding your cat poor quality cat food. It would be hard to diagnose what is causing the diarrhea without looking at a stool sample.  Take him to the vet asap as kittens are very sensitive to diarrhea! In the meantime, add some plain yogurt with active cultures to his food, about a tablespoon a meal.  This will help any bacterial imbalance that could be contributing to the diarrhea.  Make sure he has all the water he wants so he doesn't become dehydrated.  Watch him closely till you take him to your vet, if he acts lethargic, stops eating, has bloody diarrhea etc then get him into an emergency clinic.  Hope he feels better!

he could be allergic to wheat/cereals in dry food. first of all take up all food but just leave water down for 24 hours for day 2 and three steamed fish or chicken in own juices no bones and then slowly reintroduce his normal food. if you can get applaws they do one with pumpkin in which should bulk him up. and give him more moist food that has meat or fish as the number one ingredient
