Kitten with earmites??

I took my kitten to the vet for his first check up and shots, and they tested and treated him for earmites, but the treatment was just a tube of medicine that was supposed to be a one time treatment.. well i took him back 3 weeks later for his second round of shots, and i told the vet i was still concerned about his ears, because he still had a fair amount of debris in there..she said it seemed soft, and she thought it was ok..well now he is still has a lot of debris and has started back scratching his ears.. he goes back this week for his final round of shots, and i was wondering if anyone knew of a treatment i could suggest to the vet, since the one time treatment obviously didnt do anything and was rather costly.. does anyone know what works best for getting rid of the mites????

  1. there are many different treatments for ear mites some that can be bought over the counter and some that can only be prescribed... depending on which ear cleaning solution you have been given would depend on the extend of its usefullness. Also when metioning the fact ur cat is actually a kitten many product may be harmful something of such young age so you need to be aware and be careful off that... there is in no doubt that your vet would know what they are talking about... have you tried gently cleaning it out urself? with a bit of cotton wool... otherwise something called dermatopic eardrops are good not sure if they are good for kittens though....

  2. my family has always put oil..almond oil or veg oil. with a Q tip around the inside of the ear. sometimes with a little tea tree oil. it always worked the first time for them. maybe it will for you and it is CHEAP!!!

  3. buy baby oil and put a drop or two on your fingers and rub in the ear. has always worked on any of our family pets.

  4. ewwwyyy me no like cats.

  5. your paying good money so get the vet to do her job properly. You can clean a kitties ear with a cotton bud,but you mustn't go any where near the ear canal.Your vet should know what to do.If not-change vets.
