  1. milk is not good your kitten!  It doesn't need milk, just the right combination of Dry and Wet food.  Milk will cause a upset tummy and diarrhea

  2. Most animals, especially baby ones, can' t tolerate cow's milk.   A shallow dish of clean water is best for them to drink.  At 3 months she should be eating soft/solid food with no problem.

  3. Most cats are lactose intolerant so giving them milk is not a good choice. Some might develop diarrhea and some will be fine. But it is better not to take any chances since cats do not need milk in their diet. If you like, you can purchase cat milk instead as a treat but the kitten has to be over 6 weeks old to drink them.

    Some brands to try:-

    Whiskas Cat Milk

  4. Hi Saphire.

The type of milk that we drink, cow's milk, isn't at all good for cats as they are lactose intolerant, that is their digestive system isn't designed to break down the lactose sugar molecules that cow's milk has, and the end product if you give some to your kitten could be an upset tummy resulting in vomitting or diarhoea.

If a kitten isn't getting milk from their mother between 1 day old and 6 weeks old, a cat replacement milk is usually fed to the kittens before they can be weaned onto solid food. The main reputable makes of cat replacement milk are called KMR (  Kitten Replacement Milk) and Cimicat.

But, your kitten is now 3 months old, so he/she shouldn't be fed kitten milk at this age and should be fully weaned onto a good quality kitten wet food.

There are some brands of cat milk sold in pet stores, but it's not necessary to a cat's dietary needs.

I don't give my cats milk of any sort after they are 6 weeks old as cats don't need, and could do without, milk given to them after this age.

All the best to you and your new kitten :)

  5. Most cats are lactose intolerant and milk will give them diarrhea.  Your cat doesn't need milk as she should be weaned.  A good cat food is all she needs, maybe a few treats once in a while!

  6. most cats are lactose intolerant once they're weaned.

your kitten may like milk, but unless you get a special kind, your kitten will have diarrhea.  Look for something called "Kitten Milk Replacement" or KMR at your pet store.

I still give my 3 year old cats KMR as a special treat, but I also give them plain yogurt (which contains little to no lactose) as an occasional treat.

  7. Kittens need to drink theri mother's milk while they are nursing. It has the fat and protein that they need to grow and survive. Cats and kittens can drink cow's milk occasionally but they do not NEED to drink it. A cat can easily live its whole life without ever having cow's milk.
