  1. cats should have access to food and water at all times, they are not like a dog, cats prefer to eat at their leisure, I have 8 cats and i keep the feeders full at all times,

they should never be with out food or water

  2. make sure the water and food bowls are full all the time and clean their litter box constantly

  3. TAKE IT FOOD 2S A DAY

  4. i have an 8 week old kitten and seems to want food at strange and irregular times so instead of trying to guess when she's hungry I just keep her food and water bowls full all the time so she can eat whenever she likes. If she leaves the food for a long time, make sure it's replaced with fresh food so she's not eating old stuff :) xx

  5. I keep dry food in the bowl and feed wet food 3x daily (1/2 pouch of meow mix pleaser pack too). I found her on my porch and she was too thin and dehydrated. She also had a TON of fleas, but that's a different story. Just makes sure the kitten eats enough and doesn't meow for food.

  6. little and often give your vet a ring theyll be able to advise you =]

  7. your kitten should have access to water all day so when the kitten needs it, it's there but feed it twice in the morning and in the evening but it depends on what you are feeding it so maybe three times a day

  8. most pet food will have instructions on how much to feed your cat/kitten depending on its weight. If your still unsure, either visit the website for the food (eg whiskers or iams) or visit your vet for advice.

  9. it will usually tell you on the bag of food.  if you still have questions it is better to consult with your vet cause he/she is better to take care of your pet and it's needs than we are.  good for you that you rescued a kitty from a bad home!!!

  10. Figuring how to feed a cat depends on the age, activity level and health status of your cat. I will address your concern by giving you advise base on the assumption that your cat is generally healthy and have no special dietary or medical needs.

A normal healthy and active adult weighing at about 6-8lbs would need about 6oz of wet food a day. For kittens, it is nomally double that amount. This is only when feeding wet food as I do not ever feed dry. 1/4 cup of dry food equals to 3oz of wet food, so you can do the math from there. Also, it is not recommended to free fed kitten. Although they can be allowed to eat as much as they want, free feeding can lead to weight problems later on.

Young kittens are powerhouse when it comes to eating. They have a small stomach and can't eat her whole meal at one or two seating. If you are feeding can, divide her meal into 1/4 of a can each time, 4 times a day. Better yet, if you are at home a lot and have more time, feed less, but more frequently up to 8 times a day.

Kittens self regulate their food intake to eat as much as their body need to fuel their daily activities. The same cannot be said for when your kitten becomes an adult. Set a good feeding habit now and you will be able to overcome your kitten overeating later on. Have plan meal times and measure the amount of food being fed.

The first sign of illness is usually the loss of appetite. If you free feed, you will be unable to monitor your kitten's food intake. When you regulate however, you will be fast to find out if your kitten has an increase or decrease in appetite which will be very helpful to gauge your kitten's health.

  11. My vet told me 2-3 times up to 6 months, then gradually decrease feeding to about 1 or 2 big meals a day.
