Question:

Kittens puking up pine litter? or are they overeating?

i have two 4 month old kittens.

recently i have found small spots on the floor where they threw up. it is a very small amount, about the size of 1 or 2 pine litter pellets liquefied.

i have seen 1 of the cats eat some of them before when they get knocked out of the litter box and on to the floor. but i am not sure if that is what it is.

they eat a pretty good amount and im not sure if sometimes its from overeating, playing too hard or from eating litter.

can someone please tell me if its normal for cats to vomit the pine littter back up or if it is another cause?

should i take them to the vet?

they are otherwise very playful and energetic all the time, and exhibit no other signs of any problems.

any help would be great

  1. why are you allowing them to eat the pine litter, that stuff is bad for cats anyways.  get some swheet that is natural and shouldn't harm them if they were to eat some.

  2. Ok, first of all, lose the pine litter.  Obviously it's bad for them, and they are eating it.  You should take your cats to the vet for a through health check, it is not normal for cats to be puking.  As long as you keep a bowl of fresh dry food, and fresh water available (far away from the litter box) - you shouldn't need to feed them anything else.
