Why is it when you rub cats heads and they purr, they always close their eyes? Do they enjoy it that much?

yeah they like it  that much. my cat likes it on his chin.

i think they like it b/c they can't really do it themselves

Yes, they do. That is the only reason they let themselves become pets, so that they can have their heads scratched.

Yeah places they can't reach are special like their shoulder area or the spot near the tail.  When they head butt you that is a sign of love too, bless.
