Kitty Question ?????

Question

I have a kitten thats 8 weeks old .. and I had another cat before who died recently (R.I.P) and he was always soo mean to people.. everytime people would pet him or come near him he would always get angry and hiss .. how do i make my new bought kitten not like that I want him to like people not get angry at them !

&& alsoo when i playwith my kitten he goes on his side and i rub his belly and he starts biting my hand but its cute .. cuz i think hes playing .. is he or is he just madd?

you cant really make your cat like people but if your kitten is around alot of people shell get used to it and she wont be scared or mean to them. one of my cats never bit me before but sometimes if i rub her stomach shell nibble my fingers alittle because shes playing so your kittens probably playing too. just make sure you dont go to far and let her bite to hard. and im sorry about your other cat=[

don't be mean to it and disipline it you don't want it to get to spoiled then a cat can turn like that but also being to mean could cause that.

If you play fight with your kitten using your hands your kitten will grow up to be what appears aggressive and won't understand when they are grown up while it's no longer ok to scratch and bite hard.

It's best to use interactive toys to play with your cat instead of teach them that your hands are toys.   While you kitten is young it's a great time to get them used to getting their nails trimmed, brushing them, and brushing their teeth.  The more you handle your kitten gently the better it will be as they mature.

Your kitten is probably ticklish on his belly I would probably suggest stopping the petting on the belly or make it clear that it is not ok for them to bite you hand.

i think the best thing to do is to make sure that your new kitty is around people and gets used to being petted. i did this with my younger kitty, and he loves company.  my older kitty wasn't around people much, so she's anti social...

when my cats bit my hand when they play, i stop playing with them right then and there. i want them to learn that violent behavior is not acceptable, and that they need to be nice if they want to play.  it also helps when i have company over, especially children, because kids can be rough with animals.

okay, to start with, you can't TRAIN a cat to act to your liking. it is their nature, depending on the parents. And yes, the kitten is playing, because if it was angry it would arch its back, poof out its tail, and even growl or hiss. We have a 7 or eight month kitty, and she is super affectionate, and she does those little bites, too. Our other cat did that when he was young, also. Don't worry, they grow out of it! Congrats on your new kitty!

mmaya has a great answer - pay attention to her advise.  Try to see the world through your cat's eyes  - don't rub his tummy if it makes him bite - remember, cats can't speak words to you, so they have to show you how they feel with their behavior.

He's probably playing when he bites your hand, but scold him if he bites to hard or too much. Also, just let him see lots of people, but make sure his experiences with people are good. Other than that, you can't change a cat's personality.

it all depends on how the kitten is raised my advise just let it be a kitten a cute adorable misbehaving curious kitten and you'll be just fine and as for the ruff housing hes just playing if u don't have another cat then play with him like that when he wants to because kittens love to play fight and with out a companion your all it has
