Hi, My husband and I have a cat named Grizabella, and we will be calling the vet monday (small town- its closed on weekends) anyway, our cat is only a year and 2 months, and she is exibiting some strange behavior. See, yesterday we found poo right against her food bowl in the kitchen and then we saw her pee right in front of us, and she has NEVER ever not gone in her litter box- Infact, she has always been perfectly behaved. Anyways, tonight, my husband and I were in the kitchen, and she started squatting near her food bowl again like she was going to go. so i ran her to the litter and put her in it, and she looked at me very confused like as if to say "what is this for??" for a couple mins, and then i closed the door behind me, and she went in front of me in the litter, but looked to be straining when she was going #2. But she did both.

Anyways, last night, i noticed that her poo had a lot of yellowy liquid around it that i have never seen before, and her pee was dark yellow and smelled horrible, and ive never smelled her pee before, so obviously its never been strong like that, so i was just wondering, does this sound like a kitty UTI and maybe a problem with her bowels?? because her poo tonight was a yellowy color, so im worried about this, and we cant get her checked for another day. So please, any opinions? thank you!

  1. Yes,it sounds like a UTI.The straining would make her defecate as well. And may I ask why you are breeding her when there are already millions of cats and kittens dying in shelters? Is your cat a purebred of show quality? Do you already have responsible, indoor homes for the kittens? Are you selling them with a spay/neuter contract and will you keep any kittens that you cannot place and take them back at any time during their life should the owners not want them anymore? If the answer to any of these questions is "no",then there is no reason to breed her. Also, responsible breeders would know if their cat had a UTI right away.If you breed cats, you need to know EVERYTHING there is to know  about feline reproduction and general health before you even think about it.

  2. You should definitely take her to the vet and have her checked out.  And many cats stray outside the litterbox when they're sick, that should go away once the health problem is cleared up.

  3. If she is spayed then I would guess UTI.  If she isn't spayed, there's your problem.

Why would you breed your cat when 3 million cats and kittens are killed each and every year in animal shelters for lack of homes??!!
