I have 2 cats, one just had a litter where only 1 survived and is just a day old. The other cat is about 5 months old. The mother and kitten are staying in my closet in my bedroom with my bed room dorr shut to keep the 5 month kitty away (he's kind of rough). But the momma cat really wants the 5 month kitty and will abandon her actual kitten to try to get to the 5 month kitty. What should I do when the momma cat doesn't lay down long enough for it to nurse?

  1. Hold her down... MAKE HER NURSE THE KITTEN.

Do it each and EVERY time ... after a while she will allow it.

Make sure the 5mo is out of ear sound.

If that doesn't work you will have to bottle feed her.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE HER SPAYED/ NEUTERED if she rejects this kitten... she needs no more kittens... AND THE 5 mo old too.

    good luck >^..^<

  2. Let the mother have access to both, she will not let the 5 month old hurt the kitten. If the mother cat hasn't nursed the kitten for 24 hours at the longest, you will need to take both of them to the vet. And watch for the 5 month old nursing, it could be a problem if momma isn't producing enough milk for the newborn.

  3. You can go to your local shelter and ask them what kind of kitty formula you should get to feed the kitten. My mom found a kitten in the alley only 2 weeks old and went to the shelter and got the formula. She fed it until it was able to eat cat food. Loved that cat because it grew up with me.

  4. This happens from time to time, youll probably have to go to the vet and have him give you special kitten formula n a bottle

  5. some cats make good moms and their maternal instict kicks in and some it doesnt its weird i remember i had two cats who both had a little of kitties one cat just abandoned its kitties and left so my other cat got her kittens and put em with her littler and nursed them her self it was weird but sweet ^^
