Kiwayu to defy his 12lb rise in McArthurglen Designer Outlets Handicap at Kempton
Luca Cumani’s last time maiden winner, Kiwayu, won plenty in hand at Lingfield in July, and despite a hefty 12lb rise, he holds an obvious chance of repeating his act in the McArthurglen Designer Outlets Handicap at Kempton on Wednesday, September 05, 2012.
Owned by Fittocks Stud, the 3-year-old made a few terrible outings last season. He went out of action after finishing eighth behind Afaal in the British Stallion Studs E B F Reference Point Maiden Stakes (Colts & Geldings) at
Leicester.
A long gap gave the trainer and connections a chance to iron out flaws, and the bay gelding returned strongly in July. On Lingfield’s standard track, the son of Medicean gave his rivals no chance whatsoever.
Despite an unimpressive start, the 10-1 chance did not lose momentum, and started making smooth progress. His hard work paid off just before the last two furlongs, when he managed to get a decent lead.
In the hands of Kieren Fallon, the dashing runner enhanced his lead by staying on well in the final stages. A superb effort helped Kiwayu upset the 5-2 favourite, Tis Rock 'N' Roll, by staggering six lengths.
Bred by Fittocks Stud Ltd, the bay gelding is in good shape, and has a lot to offer this season. Despite the fact that there are many notable runners in the line-up, one cannot afford to ignore him after a wonderful effort last time.
He is going to face 10 giants in today’s class 4 contest. The proceedings are due to get underway at 20:30 GMT. The 1-mile 4-furlong event carries a cash prize worth £4,075.
Kiwayu needs to stay cautious of Kuda Huraa, who was impressive last twice. The 4-year-old recorded his second win of the season here last month.
Roger Varian’s charge defeated Beat Route by two and a quarter lengths to secure a comfortable win in the Win Big With Betdaq Multiples Apprentice Handicap. After a cosy success, he could not continue the winning run, but did well to finish among top-3 at
Newmarket.
Kiwayu is such an excellent rhythm after his maiden success that it is hard to look elsewhere for the winner. Good luck to all the runners.
