Kiwi Danny Lee stays strong in the second round of Humana Challenge
Kiwi Danny Lee looked pretty confident in the second round of the Humana Challenge at La Quinta Country Club, as he carded a decent score of 3-under 69.
Lee kicked off the round confidently, as he reeled off a birdie on the 1st hole. Playing his second event of the year on the US PGA Tour, Lee looked more than thrilled on the course, as he was not expected to give such amazing performance.
Holding his nerve, he parred the 2nd, 3rd and 4th holes. Due to the intense practice he had before coming to the event, Lee found himself making good putts.
He stunned the spectators on the par-5 5th hole, by draining an impressive eagle. Forging ahead with consistency, he stayed focused on his strokes, making calculated putts on the putting green.
He parred yet another hole but on the difficult par-3 7th hole, he faltered and ended up carding a bogey.
He then scored 2 pars on the par-4 8th and par-4 9th hole. His overall score on the front nine was 34.
On the back nine, he remained calm and composed and did not let his counterparts overrun him. He reeled off his second birdie on the par-4 10th hole.
The second day saw strong winds sweeping across the course but most of time, the weather conditions proved to be conducive for the young Kiwi.
He parred the 11th and 12th holes. He then scored a birdie on the par-5 13th. Lee seemed to waver a little on the par-4 17th hole, as he carded a double bogey.
The last hole also proved lucky for Lee, where he launched his 4th birdie to cap off the round. He is currently tied for 62nd and will look to consolidate his position on the leaderboard.
Lee's first round went almost as good as the second one. He recorded a 3-under 69.
The PGA Tour event is featuring leading players from across the world. The field is proving tougher than what most of the players had anticipated. With a number of tricky holes, the tournament is offering the spectators a chance to see quality golf.
