Kiwi’s name squad for Twenty20 against Pakistan
The Kiwi selectors have named their team for the Twenty20 match to be played against Pakistan. The 14 man squad does not include the skipper of the New Zealand side, Daniel Vettori who has been ruled out due to a back injury. Wicket keeper and batsman Brendon
McCullum is also expected to undergo a fitness test before he will be cleared by the selection committee to play in the T20 due to a similar back problem.
In lieu of these changes it is now expected that Ross Taylor will be leading the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canterbury-c775 batsman Dean Brownlie, who is only 18 years old,
will be playing on the side along with a fast bowler from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864 known as Luke Woodcock.
Mark Greatbatch who is the convener of the selectors said, "http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luke-Woodcock-c1860 have both enjoyed very good domestic form over the last couple of seasons and richly deserve their opportunity. Adam Milne is a promising young bowler and we are
keen to give him some early exposure in international cricket. He is http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Young-c41367 up-and-comer with the potential to have a big impact in international cricket for many years. Twenty20 is the ideal format for the new guys to get some international experience and
exposure."
Unfortunately however, the biggest casualty for the Kiwi side will have to be the loss of the regular Test wicket keeper Gareth Hopkins who could not make the cut. He has been replaced by Reece Young. The selectors were of the view that Young has performed
exceptionally well consistently in successive seasons at the domestic level. They did go on to say that it was rather disappointing that Gareth Hopkins was left out. Instead of Gareth, Jeetan Patel and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
It is also expected that Pakistani speedster, the Rawalpindi express, Shoaib Akhtar will be playing in the series. Sohail Tanvir the left arm pacer has however been ruled out due to injury.
