The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues striker reckons that they can beat Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund to the title if they continue their winning form.
The Dutch international is confident that the Royal Blues can lift the Bundesliga crown, if they maintain their impressive form and remain consistent for remainder of the season.
Huntelaar was talking in the wake of his impressive performance against Werder Bremen at the Veltins-Arena on Saturday, December 17. Schalke emerged as 5-0 winners, courtesy a hat-trick from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 Gonzalez and a goal each from Kyriakos
Papadopoulos and Huntelaar.
The striker provided two assists to go along with his 15th goal of the season, and is undoubtedly one of the main candidates for the Golden Boot award.
However, the 28-year-old expressed his disappointment at his substitution in the 77th minute. He believes that he is completely fit and can play a full game. He opined that had his manager allowed him more time on the
pitch, he might have scored another goal.
When asked about his reaction at the time of his substitution during Saturday’s game, the former Real Madrid striker elaborated:
“That's true, I wanted to stay on. I'm fit and can play for 90 minutes without any trouble. I always want to play for the entire match - especially in such a nice game with plenty of space and with things going so well. I always
want to score more goals, but we've got another game on Wednesday and that's what I'm concentrating on now.”
On the other hand, Huntelaar has urged his teammates to put in more effort if they want to hold a chance of winning the league.
“We're in the thick of things at the top and only three points behind Bayern, but we're not at their level yet. We're also not at the same level as Dortmund, even if we have the same number of points as them.” He concluded.
As a result of Saturday’s win, Schalke find themselves level on points with second-placed Borussia Dortmund, three points adrift of the league leaders, Bayern Munich.
