and was left unconscious for a few minutes on the pitch. He was then forced to leave the field after coming on as a substitute in the second-half.
The Schalke attacker did not get a place in the starting XI and only came on as a replacement for Arsenal’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 in the 46th minute. The in-form attacker did not take long to prove his mettle and scored his
team’s second goal in the 58th minute. However, the former Ajax star lasted for a total of 17 minutes before being replaced by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luuk-de-Jong-c22956 in the 63rd minute.
Huntelaar stated that he still needs more time to recover and regarded it as a ‘horrible’ accident. While addressing De Telegraaf, the 28-year-further added:
"I was so eager [to make a mark], I ate the grass. Personally, I knew nothing more [after the collision]. I still have a headache, a swollen and bruised nose and a concussion. If I cough, it feels like my brain is still shaking!"
The former AC Milan man confirmed his unavailability for the Freiburg game but expressed his desire to get fit in time for the UEFA Europa League game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233. Both teams will meet for the first-leg of the Last 16 encounter
on Thursday, March 8, before the return fixture at the Veltins-Arena on March 15.
"For the past two days I haven't been able to do anything. I'm focusing on Thursday, on the away game in the Europa League against FC Twente," Huntelaar concluded.
Huntelaar has been in sensational form this season and has been Schalke’s best player so far. The striker has already netted 18 league goals from 22 appearances and is in contention for the Golden Boot award. Despite his injury
on Wednesday, the attacker is certainly one of the confirmed members of the Dutch squad for Euro 2012.
