The Schalke striker is upset over the team’s loss to the La Liga outfit in the first-leg of the UEFA Europa League quarter-final.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Klaas-Jan-Huntelaar-c21175 has expressed his disappointment after losing to Athletic Bilbao in the first-leg of their Europa League quarter-final. Both sides met on Thursday, March 29, at the Veltins-Arena with the visitors winning 4-2.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Iker-Muniain-c16816 scored for Bilbao while Raul bagged a brace for the hosts.
The Dutchman feels that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues controlled most part of the first-half but were unlucky to go down due to a late flurry of goals. He reckoned that his side missed a number of opportunities throughout the course of the game
which led to their unfortunate downfall.
Huntelaar believes that Schalke took the game lightly after going 2-1 up in the 59th minute. He applauded the way the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 played but accused the rest for lacking determination. However, he encouraged his players not
to lose hope and aim for a comeback in the return leg.
While talking to Sat1, the 28-year-old further added:
"We didn't play well over the full 90 minutes. We didn't take our chances. We lacked determination. Then we fell apart a bit, and could no longer impose our game. Perhaps they think that they are already through. If we keep the
pressure up, we can score a quick goal and then we'll see. We all need to do better, myself included."
On the other hand, Schalke substitute goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathias-Schober-c24673 also expressed his frustration on the home defeat. He admitted that the team lost focus in the last quarter and that is when the game slipped from Schalke’s grasp.
Schober had to come on in the second-half after their first choice keeper, Hildebrand, picked up an injury in the first period. "In football, everything is possible. It's difficult, of course, but there are always miracles. As
a young team, perhaps we wanted to do too much, and Bilbao came back in the game,” Schober concluded.
Schalke will return to league action on Sunday, April 1, against Hoffenheim before travelling to Bilbao for the second-leg on April 5.
