Klaas-Jan Huntelaar signs for Schalke and Emmanuel Adebayor won’t leave
The transfer window closes today at 18.00GMT, and clubs will be trying to bring in new players across the day.

Already a deal has been done, with Tottenham target Klaas-Jan Huntelaar signing for German side Schalke. The AC Milan striker moves to the Bundesliga for around £10.5million, saying on his website: “It is true I never wanted to leave Milan but that changed when Zlatan Ibrahimovic came from Barcelona.”

AC Milan will try and sign Manchester City’s Robinho. The Brazilian turned down the chance to move to Turkey last week, and has desires to play either in Spain or Italy.

Manchester City may have a busy day today, and as Shay Given said last night he would fight for his place as the No.1 goalkeeper, striker Emmanuel Adebayor has also said he won’t leave, the Togolese player deciding to fight for his place in the starting line-up. But another striker, Roque Santa Cruz, looks set to leave City, with Lazio poised to land the Paraguayan.

Arsenal left-back Armand Traore is nearing a move to Juventus and he will go to Italy on a season-long loan. Birmingham were also tracking the Frenchman, but they are closing in on the signing of former Arsenal man Alexander Hleb as well.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is looking to bring in Sulley Muntari from Inter Milan to White Hart Lane. Muntari played for Redknapp during their time at Portsmouth, and reports in Italy suggest Redknapp is favourite to land Muntari.

Mario Gomez has said he is interested in moving to Liverpool. The Bayern Munich player cannot get into the starting XI for the German champions, and this comes as Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson says he wants to bring in another striker to take the pressure off Fernando Torres.

Sunderland are set to complete the signing of Ghananian striker Asamoah Gyan for around £12million. The 24-year old will move from Rennes, and the deal is set to smash the club’s transfer record fee.

More news to follow throughout the day.
