The Schalke striker has insisted that his side cannot afford to lose to Augsburg as the third place is at stake.
Schalke have suffered two consecutive defeats in the Bundesliga to the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FC-Nuremberg-c38162 and Borussia Dortmund. The losses have put Borussia Monchengladbach just one point behind Die Knappen with just three games to go until
the end of the season.
Huntelaar claimed it is a vital game for his side and a win is very important in order to seal the third place. He admitted that the team cannot afford any more slipups in the remaining course of the campaign as the side wants
to seal the automatic qualification place for next year’s UEFA Champions League.
The former Real Madrid star added that FC Augsburg have been in great form for the past few weeks and the team is well capable of winning the game as they have some quality players in the line-up.
“It's an enormously important match for us and so we're really up for it. We're desperate to pick up a win again after two defeats in succession. They're a good footballing side who have improved over the course of the season and
as such steadily added to their points total in the second half of the season,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The Dutch international stressed that Schalke is still the favourite to finish third on the Bundesliga standings table. He insisted that it is up to the Royal Blues to ensure they end the campaign successfully and without any hiccups.
“I think we're still in a very good position even though Borussia Monchengladbach have closed the gap on us. We have it in our own hands to defend third place and seal an automatic Champions League spot,” he concluded.

Schalke will take on FC Augsburg on Sunday, April 22, at the SGL Arena. The team will be looking to claim all three points in a bid to strengthen their chances of finishing third behind the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern
