Klaipedos Badmintonui 50: Anastasia Medvedeva tames Diana Sabaneeva to lift Women’s Singles trophy
Russia’s impressive player Anastasia Medvedeva showed her impressive craft on court and won the Women’s Singles title by putting up superb show of flawless badminton in final encounter against her compatriot Diana Sabaneeva at the Klaipedos Badmintonui 50 on Sunday, August 26, in Lithuania.
The in-form Anastasia, who played incredible badminton and did not lose even a single set to anyone in all of her matches at the tournament, remained consistent in her impressive performance and butchered Diana in a ruthless way.
The impressive Anastasia was on a different level as she was flawless in the execution of her shots and remained successful in winning the battle in straight games by working for just 19 minutes in the court.
In the meanwhile, Diana failed to stretch her winning streak as she found herself helpless against the fast and positive play of her opponent. She failed to match the speed and skills of Anastasia and lost to her without even showing a meagre resistance.
The first set was one-sided as Anastasia played dominating badminton from opening rallies and did not show any sign of mercy for her country-mate.
Anastasia remained positive in the execution of her impressive shots and took a superb lead until the end of opening half.
After the break, Anastasia remained consistent in her positive and elevated play and she did not let her rival to find a good rhythm at any stage. She commanded the rallies all the way to grab the first set with a sensational 21-8 margin on the score board.
In the second game, Diana tried to show a little resistance by playing fast badminton in the opening rallies but her speed was not enough to beat her in-form opponent.
On the other hand, Anastasia played with tremendous control in her strokes and took a remarkable lead until the break.
After the interval, Anastasia continued punishing her team-mate by keeping the pace of rallies at the best level and eventually took the set with a stunning 21-7 score on the board.
The incredible Anastasia ended the final battle in a lopsided fashion by a smashing margin of 21-8 and 21-7.
