Klara Zakopalova conquers Ayumi Morita in 1st round – Hansol Korea Open 2011
Czech Klara Zakopalova conquered Japanese Ayumi Morita in the main draw of the Hansol Korea Open 2011. The two battled it out on the hard courts of Olympic Tennis Courts in Seoul, South Korea on the 19th of September 2011. After
1 hour and 31 minutes of the match Czech Zakopalova won in straight sets of 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Opening the first set of the match was Morita. As she held her serve in the first game, she went to break her adversary in the second and she took a mini lead.
During the third and fourth game the players held their serve but because Morita was two games up the score board read as 3-1. It was in the fourth game that Zakopalova had held her serve for the first time.
In the fifth game the Czech went on to break her opponent and by holding her serve in the sixth, she was able to square off the score to 3-3.
At this point the match could’ve gone either way but Zakopalova shifted a notch higher in her performance and was able to break her opponent for the second time to finally take a lead. By holding her serve in the eighth game the
Czech was now two breaks up at 5-3.
Wanting to break her opponent for the last time, Zakopalova forced an error from Morita, the Japanese again double faulted and handed the opening set to Zakopalova.
Opening the second set of the match was Zakopalova; however, it was a bad start as she was broken in the initial game. Morita then held her serve in the second game but broke her adversary to avenge her loss of the first set and
was now leading 3-0 in the set.
Both the players broke each other back to back in the following two games and the scoreboard read as 4-1.
During the sixth game Morita was broken for the second time by Zakopalova and in the seventh as she held her serve, she was now only a game down against Morita.
By the eighth game, the score had equalized to 4-4, by the ninth game Zakopalova was now finally leading in the set with 5-4.
Praying for a lucky break in the tenth game, Zakopalova pressurized her opponent, and as Morita’s forehand went wayward, she endorsed the Czech with the game point and the match.
Zakopalova was able to win the opening round of the event and was able to secure a berth in second round.
