Klara Zakopalova gearing up for upcoming season – Tennis News
Czech shining star, Klara Zakopalova, is eyeing to carry her momentum for the 2013 season. She is currently standing at number 28 in the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Premier Rankings and has enjoyed a spectacular season this year.
The Czech veteran is currently on a tight schedule for the upcoming season. She is working with a new coach, Martin Nekola, who was the coach of the former world number 22, Bohdan Uhlirach. Zakopalova is currently working on her serve which is the most important
tool for outclassing top tennis players.
Zakopalova was quoted in an interview to the official site:
"I've been preparing for the new season for a while now. I've made some changes, too - I have a new coach, his name is Martin Nekola. He's a very experienced coach, working with a lot of top players before like Bohdan Uhlirach, who was No.22 in the world
on the ATP. Right now we're working on my serve a lot because it's my big weakness, and without a good serve, you don't have a chance to beat the best players."
The 30-year-old is eyeing for better results in Australia this time. In her 2012 campaign, Zakopalova failed to conquer any match in Australia after displaying dismal performances. She was ousted by the Russian qualifier, Nina Bratchikova, from the opening
round at the Brisbane International, first WTA Premier event of the circuit. The Czech made quick in-roads and bagged a breadstick. However, she lost her path and eventually suffered the shocking defeat.
Zakopalova repeated her ways at the Moorilla Hobart International the following week. She quickly pocketed the opening set with a 6-4 win. However, the Czech got off track again and eventually suffered a 6-4, 2-6, 5-7 loss at the hands of the Romanian star,
Simona Halep.
She carried her disappointing ways at the Australian Open, first of the four Grand Slam events taking place in Melbourne. Zakopalova made a convincing entry at this major hard court tournament. However, she failed to find her rhythm and eventually endured
a 6-7(5), 1-6 loss at the hands of the 15th seed, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
The Czech reflected, “I was really disappointed about my results in Australia last year, but on the other hand I have nothing to defend this time.”
However, she is now eyeing to give her 100 percent at these events. The Czech is also aiming to top her career best ranking of 27 at the WTA Premier Rankings.
