Klara Zakopalova says there is no secret for the longevity of her career – Tennis News
Czech Republic’s Klara Zakopalova is now 30 years old but she is still playing tennis like a youngster. She has said that she works hard and it pays off, insisting that there is no secret in the longevity of her career.
Zakopalova works much on her fitness and she has not sustained any serious injury throughout her career. The Czech player added that she enjoys her life and is interested in continuing to play in the coming years.
The Prague, Czech Republic resident is playing KDB Korea Open Tennis Championships this week. Talking to the media people after winning her latest match, she said, "There's no secret - I've been with my coach for three years and
we work well together, and the hard work is paying off. I've been playing a long time, but I'm still enjoying it all and I'm still fit. I haven't had any injuries, which is lucky. I'm enjoying my life right now and I hope to play as long as I can!"
Zakopalova defeated the world number 56, Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia, in the second round. The Czech star easily won the opener 6-1 but had to fight back from the deficit of 3-5 in the second set to triumph 7-6(6) and move
to the quarter-finals.
The right-hander has always played quite well at this event having a win/loss record of 10-3. Zakopalova gave her best performance here in 2010, when she ended as the runners-up, losing to Russia’s Alisa Kleybanova in the final.
The Czech player also said that she loves to play this WTA event in Seoul. She also said that she has many fans here and the reason according to her are the good performances she has given at this tournament. Zakopalova also likes
the hard courts here, as this is her favourite surface.
She stated, "I just love coming back here. The people here are so nice and I have many fans here. I don't know why - maybe it's because I've played well here. The hard courts here are great and I love playing on them."
Zakopalova has not captured any title so far in this season but she has played consistently throughout. She reached the final of this year’s WTA event in Prague, getting down at the hands of the then world number 22, Lucie Safarova.
The Czech player has regained her highest career ranking of 27 this week.
