Klaus Allofs and Thomas Schaaf reflect on Bremen’s shock loss to Monchengladbach
Werder Bremen Sporting Director Klaus Allofs and club manager Thomas Schaaf have reflected their opinions on the shock 5-0 loss at the hands of Borussia Monchengladbach last week. The duo claimed that the team was nowhere close
to where it has played in this season and added that there is still a lot of hard work to be done if there are any chances of a title chase.
Die Werderaner suffered their heaviest defeat of the season against Lucien Favre’s side last week when they lost with a 5-0 score line. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Reus-c23733 scored a sensational hat-trick as the home side took all the three points in the
end to end up third on the standings table, level on points with second placed Borussia Dortmund.
Werder Bremen fell from second to fifth in one week on the standings table and have accumulated 23 points so far. They have won seven times and lost four in the current season and will be looking to be back on track on Sunday against
Stuttgart.
Allofs claimed that it was a shocking performance from his side and that there are no excuses. He admitted that it was a brilliant showing from the opposition and his side did not have the answers. The Director is hopeful that
there will be an improvement in the coming weeks in the performances and wants the team to be more consistent.
“The 5-0 score line was a shock, but I'm actually quite glad it was so clear. It meant the team couldn't make any excuses. They'll have to review their entire performance and hopefully learn some lessons,” he was quoted as saying
in an interview.
Club manager Thomas Schaaf stated that he did not expect the team to perform that badly in the match and it was totally unexpected for him. He insisted that Bremen deserved to lose at the end of the day and wants a strong comeback
against Stuttgart.
“Everything which made us stand out over the last few weeks: our togetherness, support of one another, was completely absent today. We've paid the price for our performance,” he concluded.
The match between Bremen and Stuttgart will be played on Saturday at the Weserstadion.
