Werder Bremen Sporting Director Klaus Allofs has played down rumours of a possible return to his former club FC Koln in the Presidency role. The chief claimed that he is fully committed to Werder Bremen and has no intentions of
leaving his current club. HE added that if there is a difference in opinion over a new agreement, which is unlikely, he could think about it.
Koln President Wolfgang Overath had earlier resigned this week and there have been widespread reports that Allofs, who is reportedly not happy with Die Werderaner, would succeed him. The Bremen chief had admitted earlier this week
that he feels he is not the right man for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 and could be leaving.
Allofs denied any such rumours which linked him to a vacant position at FC Koln and claimed that he is fully committed to Werder Bremen. The former Marseille striker added that it has been an honour working for Bremen and that
he has to intentions of leaving the club any soon.
However, the President hinted that the offer could be considered if he fails to reach an agreement with Werder Bremen for a new contract. But he admitted that the situation is unlikely this season.
“I can clearly reject this speculation. I am speaking exclusively with Werder. This is a matter of honour. There are no other ways of thinking for me. If you end up not coming to an agreement that is another matter. Should it be
so that things change, one must evaluate the situation,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Earlier this week, Allofs had admitted that he thinks he is not the right man for the post at the club. He stated that signing a new contract is just a formality but he has to be mentally satisfied to take the step.
“The thing is, you have always got to ask yourself and consider whether you are still the right man for the job,” he concluded.
Werder Bremen are currently third on the Bundesliga standings table after collecting 23 points from 12 games so far. They will next face Borussia Monchengladbach in the league on Saturday.
