Klaus Nielsen and Magdalena Sadlecka win Alanya International MTB Cup 2011 - Cycling Update
The Danish cyclist, Klaus Nielsen, showed an excellent performance in the Alanya International MTB Cup 2011 on Monday, November 21. Nielsen powered to beat the other cyclists in the last kilometres by covering the distance of the race in 1 hour, 38 minutes and 14 seconds.
A group of three cyclists made their breakaway lead, Klaus Nielsen, Uwe Hochenwarter and Kornel Osicki, all of whom put in a great deal of effort and finally attained headway of a few seconds over the others.
Meanwhile, Osicki failed to uphold his pace, resulting in the former riders’ success to create a gap between them.
Hochenwarter tried his best to outshine Nielsen but the latter launched an attack and crossed the finish-line ahead of the other cyclists without any difficulty.
Uwe Hochenwarter was in the runner-up’s place with a difference of 2 minutes and 15 seconds while Osicki finished third with a difference of 3 minutes and 39 seconds.
The Belgian rider, Robby De Bock was in a good shape but he was able to bag the fourth place only, 4 minutes and 4 seconds adrift.
The German cyclist, David Simon was even further behind in his endeavour as he finished in the fifth place, 5 minutes and 21 seconds adrift, ahead of Lee Williams and Dmytro Titarenko.
Christof Bischof, Tobias Hollenstein and Sergji Rysenko were in the ninth, tenth and eleventh place, respectively.
Turkish riders did not appear to be fighting very hard to secure a lead in the race. One rider, Abdulkadir Kelleci, grabbed the 17th place, 15 minutes and 11 seconds adrift.
In the women’s category, Magdalena Sadlecka demonstrated a brilliant effort and won the Alanya International MTB Cup 2011.
She set the fastest time of 1 hour, 40 minutes and 39 seconds, while Asa Maria Erlandsson was in the second place, with 1 minute and 49 seconds down to Sadlecka.
Aleksandra Dawidowicz tried to catch up with the leading cyclists throughout the race but remained unsuccessful in her attempts. She finished third with a difference of 3 minutes and 33 seconds.
The Russian cyclist, Anna Konovalova, also exhibited a commendable performance but she grabbed the fourth place, with a huge difference of 8 minutes and 45 seconds ahead of Kajsa Snihs and Jovana Crnogorac.
Esra Kurkcu, Asuman Burcu Balci and Eda Kunuk were in the seventh, eighth and ninth place, respectively.
Only 11 cyclists took part in the MTB Cup from the women’s side. All of them fought hard for the victory but Magdalena Sadlecka stole the show by claiming the race.
