Klavan seals Augsburg move

Estonian International, Ragnar Klavan, completed his switch to the Bundesliga club Augsburg.

The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Estonia-c2894 international caught the eye of AZ Alkmaar scouts after his fine displays for Heracles. The defender initially joined the Alkmaar club on loan and after solid performances for the club he made the move permanent and
signed a four-year contract in 2009.
Klavan was the first Estonian player to feature in UEFA Champions League. He has some Champions League experience under his belt with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar.
In his three years with the Alkmaar club the Estonian international made a total of 66 appearances for the club. Having made 80 appearances for his country the left-footed defender has considerable amount international experience.
After some speculation linking him with a move away from the Eredivisie, the defender eventually sealed a switch to the Bundesliga. He joined Augsburg and signed a two-year contract with the German club.
Klavan expressed his delight at joining Augsburg and revealed he felt it was the right time to make the next step in his career. He believes Bundesliga is one of the best in Europe and Augsburg gave him the chance to test himself
against the best players in the world
The former Heracles player is confident of helping his new club achieve their targets in the forthcoming season.
"I am happy that the deal has gone through. The Bundesliga has a great reputation as one of the top leagues in Europe. I hope I can help Augsburg achieve their goals next season," he is quoted as saying in an interview.
The club also revealed they were happy to capture the player, who they believe is an ideal signing for them. Klavan will be deployed in the centre of the Augsburg defence, and will provide the much needed stability to a rather
shaky defence.
"Ragnar Klavan is a versatile defender. He will mainly operate in the centre of defence and is a good signing for a team like us. We are delighted to have signed him," the club official is quoted as saying.
Augsburg needed to bolster their defence after shipping some silly goals last season. The club secured promotion to Bundesliga in 2009/10 and will be looking to build on their 14th place finish last season.
