Klitschko brothers manager Bernd Boente least concerned about David Haye’s retirement – Boxing news
The manager of Wladimir Klitschko and Vitali Klitschko, Bernd Boente, has said that he does not care whether David Haye retires or not.
The Hayemaker, Haye, who recently lost his WBA world championship belt against the IBF, IBO, WBO, WBA and Ring Magazine’s heavyweight champion of the world, Wladimir Klitschko, is desperate for a rematch as he wants to avenge his defeat.
The 30-year-old Haye, who lost via unanimous decision, remarked either Wladimir gives him a rematch or he will retire in October 2011.
However, Boente reckons Haye should first regain his image back by winning a few bouts in America before taking on any Klitschko.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “We don’t give a d**n whether he (Haye) retires or not. What he should do is go off and have a couple of fights in America and another big one here to get ready for Vitali.”
Boente declared that the Wladimir-Haye bout cannot happen again, as he knows now Haye has nothing to put on the line.
The manager said Haye has nothing for them now and secondly after his last performance against Wladimir, there is no guarantee of television revenue as well.
“The 50-50 split for the fight with Wladimir cannot happen again because David would bring nothing to the table. No world title belt and no guarantee of television revenue,” said Boente.
In the end, Boente remarked he thinks Haye is going to retire in October but on the same note, he said Haye will come back after a few years to clinch a title from a lesser champion.
“But what I think he will do is quit, then come back in a couple of years after we have relinquished one or two of the belts and try to pinch a title off some lesser champion,” he said.
Let’s see whether David Haye retires or not come October 2011.
