The Black Yellows’ trainer was frustrated by his side’s outcome as they drew 1-1 at Signal Iduna Park, but said that he was satisfied by the performance of his players
Borussia Dortmund head coach Jurgen Klopp believes that his team did not have the potent weapon in their league game against Fortuna Dusseldorf, as they could only get a point on Tuesday. He insisted that despite the stalemate
he could not have asked for more from the BVB stars.
A great first-half strike from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stefan-Reisinger-c34021 levelled the game late in the match to earn his side a crucial point at Signal
Iduna Park.
The coach claimed that Dortmund’s most effective weapon is counter-attacking football, and it is very useful against defensive sides such as Dusseldorf who lack quality in their ranks. However, the defending champions did not threaten
the away side much with their artillery and gave a lacklustre performance.
"The key to our game is counter pressing. This is the best weapon you can have against a defensively minded team. But today we hadn't brought this weapon with us," he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The team manager felt that the clash was up for grabs until the interval, and said that the opponents were not worthy of getting a goal. He stated that the BVB played well at the start and were winning 1-0, and should have killed
the game by scoring one more goal.
"We played a decent first half and with the 1-0 lead, the game was wrapped up,” the former Mainz 05 player added
"I told the lads at half-time that only if we make individual mistakes will we allow them to catch us on the break. There wasn't actually much pressure from Dusseldorf. Despite that, it the equaliser did happen," he finally concluded.
Klopp revealed that he warned the players not to make silly mistakes that would allow Fortuna to get back in the game. He said the away team was lucky to get the equaliser.
