The Black Yellows head coach blasted the match official in their second German League match against Nurnberg after drawing the game 1-1 at the latter’s home ground on Saturday.
Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp voiced his disappointment at the officiating skills of Tobias Welz in their stalemate at Stadion Nurnberg over the weekend. The coach revealed his frustrations and labelled them as shocking
to occur at the top level of Bundesliga.
The 45-year-old said it is hard to focus on the match when the team is hard done by the referee, and claimed his side have been sporting good behaviour for the last few seasons. He also believed the three yellow cards bookings
were harsh on his players.
The tactician told that both teams wanted to compete fairly but the unnecessary free-kicks awarded disrupted the game.
“What was unacceptable was the refereeing performance. It is so hard to play football when that happens. We have been the fairest team for three consecutive years and today we got more yellow cards than Nurnberg. Nobody wanted
to play unfairly today, but there were free kicks for no reason,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The visiting team were trailing after a Tomas Pekhart opening goal 14 minutes before the normal time, but the BVB came back strongly to level the game thanks to Jakub Blasczcykowski strike in the 40th minute.
The Bundesliga fixture turned into a very competitive clash and the atmosphere became volatile, and the club official blames the match referee for the bad sportsmanship. He stressed that the official affected the result of the
game, but in the end commended the efforts of their opposing team.
Klopp conceded that Nurnberg proved tough opponents and that their strategy to closely cover http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Reus-c23733 worked effectively.
“The opposition made it very hard for us, playing in many one-on-one duels, man marking in order to take Mats (Hummels) and Marco (Reus) out of the game,” the German finally concluded.
The unexpected draw has forced the German champions to a fourth spot in the league standings but the coach is happy to collect a point after a bad start.
