Borussia Dortmund manager, Jurgen Klopp has played down the reports linking him to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684, and revealed that he has no plans of parting ways with the BundesLiga team.
The Reds axed Kenny Dalglish from the management last week. Since then, the club has made a list of 12 possible candidates for the vacant post which included Klopp, Brendan Rodgers, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468, Andre Villas Boas and Pep Guardiola.
Earlier, Rodgers and Guardiola had both turned down the offer.
And the former German footballer has also quashed the proposal from the Merseyside outfit, indicating that he plans on serving out his contract with Dortmund.
He told the reporters, “I have a contract with Dortmund until 2016 and am going nowhere. I love it here and have no intention of changing clubs.”
The 44-year old took over the management of the BundesLiga side in July 2008, following the Borussians toilsome 2007/08 campaign. He guided his side to a sixth place finish during his first season, and also won the DFB-Supercup silverware. He soon went on
to build on his initial success, helping Dortmund hoist back to back league titles in 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons. Later, he also masterminded his side’s DFB-Pokal triumph over Bayern Munich in May.
Nevertheless, Klopp mentioned that he was honoured to be linked with a Premier League side as big as Liverpool. Apart from the Reds, the German has also been in the midst of speculations citing his possible move to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
Currently, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 are under the management of their interim coach, Roberto Di Matteo, following Villas Boas’ sacking in March.
However, the CEO of Dortmund Hans Joachim Watzke reiterated his stance that the club has got no plans of letting go of their manager and that Klopp will complete his term with the German outfit.
He told the media, “I assume very little in life. But I can rule out that before 2016 I might say to Jurgen Klopp, 'We must part ways.”
He went on to reveal that he has always enjoyed good rapport with Klopp during his term at the Signal Iduna Park, and that he got the complete support of the entire club and the fans.
He continued, “We are absolutely convinced of Jurgen. I've known him for four years, I know how he works and have total confidence in him.”
With Liverpool being rebuffed by Klopp, Guardiola and now Klopp, the Wigan Athletic manager, Roberto Martinez and Villas Boas are now considered the front runners for the coaching job at Anfield.
