Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has refuted claims that the striker will be leaving in the January transfer window but admits he will have to fight for his place.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 manager believes that the striker is being impatient and should understand the situation. He also brushed aside rumours stating that the forward will leave in January and is sure that Barrios will stay with
the team and work hard for playing opportunities.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-Lewandowski-c31255 this season. The former suffered an injury at the end of the last season and has struggled to cement his place in the team due to the excellent form
Lewandowski has been in. Barrios was the leading scorer for Borussia Dortmund for the past two seasons but has started most of the matches this season on the bench.
Klopp admitted that he understands the Paraguayan’s frustration as he wants more playing time. But the manager stated that he cannot entertain every player in the squad and he has to look at the best possible combination for the
team. He insisted that the player will have to work hard to prove his fitness and capitalise on his chances.
“It is absolutely normal for a player of his quality, who is also a Dortmund legend, not to be happy. But I cannot please everybody. I don't see any reason to discuss the current situation with him. I don't need to speak with him
about a transfer, which is not very likely,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Barrios voiced his concern earlier this month stating that he wants to play regular football for the first team as he has recovered from the injury totally. He admitted that he will have to consider his future if things do not
change and an exit in January could be a possibility.
“The manager often decides to deploy another player and I respect this choice because I'm a professional. I have no place in this team despite my performances always being at a high level. Because of this I will discuss my future
in the coming weeks,” the player stated.
Lucas Barrios has only made 73 Bundesliga appearances for the club and has scored 35 times.
