The former Mainz 05 player and manager believes that their 2-1 win over Werder Bremen was fortuitous, and admitted that BVB’s lethargic game play was because of a lack of physical fitness.

has issued an ultimatum to his squad to improve on their abilities, after a lacklustre performance in their 2-1 victory against Werder Bremen in the league opener on Friday.

"I was pleased with some things, but dissatisfied with others. We have had no real match for over three months, which is why I'm pleased," he was quoted as saying in an interview.

"The result was good, but I am not happy with the manner. The most important thing is to earn three points. Last year we had a great start and after that we had five very poor games. Maybe it is better to know that we still have

Reus expressed joy after scoring his debut goal for the BVB after signing from Borussia Monchengladbach. The attacker claimed that he was lucky to get the opportunity to give his side the lead.
"This was my chance and I really wanted to score. It was really important for the team," he enthused.
Gotze was ecstatic after netting the winner after a long lay-off due to injury and will be hoping to get more playing time now.
